Urben Blu, a Canadian company, will build the new washroom facilities that feature self-containing unit with a hands-free design for taps, toilets, urinals and sinks that guarantee improved sanitation. These features will limit the risk of infection through touching the washroom surfaces. Amenities will include a water bottle-filling station and change tables. Operating and maintenance costs will be reduced by providing decreased water consumption with low flow flush options and tap fittings. The Village of Valemount will provide the connections to water and sewer.
The new public washrooms will contribute to Valemount becoming a favourite stop on Hwy 5 between Jasper National Park and Kamloops. Installing top-notch toilet facilities for public use promotes equality and social inclusion. The new washrooms will also combine visitor and resident needs as it is well-placed, in a park setting close by an electrical vehicle charging station. There is easy access to retail services and restaurants. The washrooms will be esthetically pleasing, following the guidelines set out in the newly adopted Official Community Plan with a steep roof, rock base and natural colours.
Any questions can be directed to Chief Administrative Officer, Wayne Robinson.
