Zoning Amendment
The Zoning Bylaw regulates land uses including things like, residential versus commercial development, setbacks, density, parking, etc. A Zoning Bylaw Amendment may propose to amend any provision of the Zoning Bylaw, but it must be compliant with the Official Community Plan.

Temporary Use Permits
Temporary Use Permits provide a property owner with the authority to conduct uses not permitted by the Zoning Bylaw on a temporary basis.

A Temporary Use Permit to permit residents to live in a temporary structure (RV's) on their property may be approved if the requirements outlined in Policy 83 are met.  The Temporary Residential Structure Policy and Application can be found to the right.

Overview

There are a number of maps used to guide development in Valemount. Development must comply with regulations for each particular property based on its zoning or OCP designation outlined in the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaws. The attached maps will help you determine your properties zoning and OCP designation.

Many property owners have questions around Short Term Vacation Rentals (STVR) and B&Bs.  A B&B is now considered a Short Term Vacation Rental Minor in the updated Zoning Bylaw.  Here are some quick facts regarding STVR's.
