Community Preparedness
The Village of Valemount adheres to the Four Pillars of Emergency Management – Prevention/Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery.
Community Preparedness falls under Preparedness and is the ability of residents to prepare for, withstand, and recover from a possible local emergency or disaster. Community Preparedness refers to efforts to train, educate and provide resources to residents in advance of an emergency so they are better able to cope and recover from short and long-term emergency events. Individuals who believe they are prepared for disasters are often not as prepared as they think, or, have not developed any type of personal preparedness plan.
