Facilities Bookings, Equipment Rentals, and Event Permits

The Village of Valemount rents facilities and equipment for events, celebrations, and meetings, as well as sports and recreation use. Use of municipal property is classified as either Standard Rentals or as Events, which require Event Permits.

Event Permits

The Village of Valemount encourages and supports community events and the responsible use of municipal facilities and property that bring people together, celebrate local culture, and contribute to a vibrant and welcoming community. The Event Policy and permitting procedure provides a consistent framework for the rental and use of municipal facilities and property, and for the planning and approval of events, ensuring activities are conducted safely, responsibly, and in accordance with applicable laws and best practices.

An activity is considered an Event when one or more of the following apply:

• Exclusive use of municipal property is requested
• Attendance is expected to exceed 100 people
• Roads, sidewalks, parking, or public access will be restricted
• Temporary structures will be installed
• Involves alcohol service in public spaces, food or merchandise sales, vendors or amplified sound
• Municipal services or approvals are required

Activities meeting one or more of the above criteria require Event approval in accordance with the Policy No. 99 Events.

Note: The Event Policy does not regulate informal, low-impact public use of municipal spaces such as casual gatherings, picnics, or small celebrations that do not meet the criteria above.
