Animal Control
The Village of Valemount has established rules and regulations to control pets and other animals within the municipality for the enjoyment and protection of the general public. Animal Control is provided on a request for service basis and is only provided within the Village boundaries.
If you wish to speak to someone regarding an animal control issue, please contact the Village Office (see hours and contact info at bottom of page).
Any calls regarding a dangerous dog should be directed to the RCMP by calling 911; they will contact the Village for assistance if necessary.

Running at Large
If an animal is running at large in the community, and placed in the pound, the Village will take all reasonable steps to contact the owner and inform them of their animal’s impoundment. Before the animal is returned, the owner will be required to:
- Provide proof of ownership for the animal.
- Pay any applicable fines associated with the capture and care of the animal.
Village staff cannot release any animals without direction from the Village Office.
