Campfire Ban Rescinded

by | Aug 1, 2024 | News

BC Wildfire Service announced:

The campfire ban in the Prince George Fire Centre area will be rescinded on August 1, 2024 at noon.

Please be reminded that a campfire cannot exceed 0.5 metres in height and 0.5 metres in diameter. You must always have at least 8 litres of water on hand or a hand tool ready while your campfire is lit. Ensure there is a fuel break around the campfire, free of any debris or combustible materials. Ensure the fire is fully extinguished and the ashes are cold to the touch before leaving the campfire for any length of time.

Please check the regulations regularly. Fire danger is constantly being measured and campfire prohibitions may return if conditions change. The current prohibition for any Category 2 and Category 3 open fires remains in effect.

Violating the regulations could cost you $1,150, and should your campfire cause a wildfire, you may also be ordered to pay for all firefighting and associated costs. Please use care, and enjoy the summer.
