In July, 2024, the Village of Valemount experienced closures to its main connective highways during peak operating season, the arrival of almost 20,000 evacuees compared to its population of 1,050, and a dramatic cut off of commercial activity. As part of its economic recovery efforts, the Village of Valemount along with Strategies North Advisory Inc. conducted multiple engagements, surveys, and discussions to gauge losses and recovery needs.
