The Village of Valemount will be conducting sewer flushing operations starting on May 7 and continuing until May 15. This operation is to remove grit, sand, and gravel from sewer piping, as a preventative measure against sewer blockages, odour generation, and premature wear of mechanical components.Please follow these precautions to prevent and/or control possible backflows from the sewer:
• Ensure all toilet seats are down
• Avoid using washroom facilities when Enviro Jet crews are within sight of your home
• Place towels around the base of toilets to absorb any overflow
• Plug all sinks when not in use
• Ensure washing machine hose is tightly connected
• If water does overflow a fixture, disinfect area, wash soiled towels/rags with bleach, and contact Public Works as soon as possible to prevent further overflows.
